Why you should vote for me
I have lived in Palmer Lake for 6 years. I have had the pleasure of serving on the Planning Commission for 4 years and serving as co-president of the Palmer Lake Arts Council (alongside Vicki Mynhier) since 2023. This year the Arts Council revived Chautauqua, an educational cultural gathering for all ages and we are dedicated to bringing it back as an annual event. I have a degree in accounting, come prepared for meetings, and am well acquainted with our town’s municipal code.
In crafting the town’s recent Master Plan, I spent significant time reviewing citizens’ input through surveys and neighborhood meetings. As a result, I feel I have a good understanding of what citizens want for the future of Palmer Lake and how to best preserve its character. Through my service on the Planning Commission, I’ve realized that I am willing to serve a more significant role as the town faces upcoming growing pains. I’d appreciate your vote for the Board of Trustees and the chance to serve the people of Palmer Lake.
What I've done on Planning Commission
After meeting and listening to citizens, the Planning Commission had the task of summarizing not only what Palmer Lake is currently but also what we want to see in the future to keep Palmer Lake so special. The Master Plan is a guide for the board of trustees, town staff, and potential developers to use to be sure citizens' desires are followed.
Our Sign Code was outdated and lacked detail. Without clear standards in place, some of the signs around town were unkempt, distracting, and abandoned. We revised the code with the goal for signs in town that are visually appealing and developed procedures to enforce our new vision. I believe the Sign Code is an important avenue for the town to honor its natural surroundings and charm.
Similar to the Sign Code, the Subdivision Code was outdated and lacked clear guidance on its procedures and standards. Our revisions provided this much needed clarity. Moreover, the revised code now embodies and helps safeguard how citizens want our town to look and feel.
